Well Darlings,The time is fast approaching. Christmas. Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All Men. Perhaps I should broaden my circles, as it seems far from that wherever I go. We see our pensioners going without food and turning off their heating in order to pay their council tax. A tax that one in four of them has difficulty in paying. Help the Aged are campaigning for the government to reinstate the discount for pensioners to help them at this time of year. I guess they must have more faith in the goodwill of our government than most people. This discount was given to older people before the General Election, and withdrawn afterwards. The other day it occurred to me that during Ronald Reagan's run for the Presidency he created a "Misery Index". This index represented a total of the rate of inflation, plus the prime rate, as an indicator of how the American people felt about how they were doing. No one has suggested resurrecting this index in recent years. My thought was to create a "Happiness Index". How happy are you with the leadership of the country.
